Do we have actual confirmation that the Hangout will be announcing additional artist BESIDES the pre-party on thursday night? They are about 10 artist short compared previous years, and I know they always say "more to be announced" or whatever.. but they have not said that this year. Has me worried, bc the lineup is very average.

I haven't see anything saying "we will add more artists to the main festival" as compared to the pre-party but I don't think this is any different than other years. We are sitting at 63 and there were 76 on the final poster last year. I wouldn't hope for anyone huge. A lot of talk on the other board about Death Cab for Cutie and their dates make sense. Probably someone in the 8-10 range like them, a couple 7-10th liners and a bunch of very deep undercard.

I would rather HOMF put up 60 really good performers, give them a few extra minutes and organize set times better in the lineup than throw 10 more performers on the list and crowd everything. Having said that, it appears the folks on music gossip boards are saying the EDM and Jam/songwriter genres are under represented. From my count; 27 Alternative, 11 EDM,4 Rock, 3 pop, 3 Reggae, 2 Folk, 2 R&B, 2 hip hop, 2 Country, 1 Blues, 1 Rap, 1 funk, 1 Jazz, 1 instrumental, 1 Nasty, 1 Gospel/R&B. Soooo, I understand the alternative and pop on the beach stuff. I think these is plenty of Boom Boom, but definitely seems like the jam/songwriters are way under-represented. Folks like Jason Isbell, Amos Lee, and Wide Spread Panic or Government Mule are gone. Maybe that is the change in promoters, but I wish HOF would balance out the card a little better and bring in more songwriter/jam bands. At least that is my opinion. Cheers.

I think that the undercard is good and most hardcore festival goers would probably agree that the undercard is good. But what sells tickets are the top 3-4 lines and Hangout has average at best top 3-4 lines this year. For the average person who does not know most the undercards are not going to spend the money to come based on the top acts this year. I go to this festival every year only because I have a vacation home on west beach, but if I were a hardcore festival goer with a budget to work with then I definitely would rather go to another festival over Hangout this year due to lineup alone. Other than average lineup this year, Hangout has every other festival in the country beat as far as everything else goes.

I agree with pretty much everything Caster said. Performers like Foo Fighters (the first time), RHCP, Tom Petty, Outkast, KOL, and others have been the big draw for the big crowds. I agree that those headliners seem weak given a) second time around and b) only Beck is the new draw. I am going for the undercard and the seven days of condo on the beach, pool, seafood, and everything else that comes with Gulf Shores. See ya there!

I reallllllllly hope Umph plays v.s. ZBB and not v.s. Beck. That would make me very sad.

Zen..you are the man! They should pay you for that effort. Seriously...
1) Agree Umphreys opposite ZBB 2) Colony House, Frank Turner, and Macy Gray all at the same time would blow my mind...major bummer!!!! 3) Vintage Trouble, Colony House and Elle King at Red Bull...I'm in! 4) I would swap times and venues between Drive By Truckers and Toro y Moi. 5) I definitely like your Sunday.
Awesome effort. Hope they consider your lineup and my recommended changes.
