Who will be added to the lineup?
Last year it was The Avett Brothers, STS9, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Brandi Carlile, JJ Grey and Mofro, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Big Gigantic, Soja, Railroad Earth, Greensky Bluegrass, Rival Sons and Honey Island Swamp Band. That happened on March 15th.
In 2010 they added Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Papa Mali & Friends, and Honey Island Swamp Band on April 22nd and the Late night sets were announced on May 4th...along with news that The Roots were replacing The Flaming Lips

I'm still thinking they have another surprise up theirsleeve. Like not another headliner but someone maybe like the Black Keys again or Modest Mouse? Please! Ha. But I hope there's another round of bands announced in a few weeks.

I'm thinking a solid list of medium-bands that makes a variety of people happier with the lineup. Thievery Corporation? Foster the People? Childish Gambino? I think something good.

Thievery Corp and Foster the People would be legit.

of Montreal is based in Athens, GA and their worldwide tour stops in early May. A possibility there certainly. The Shins are available as well during that time and are touring all spring. Delta Spirit is finishing their tour the week before, as many acts are, but they end on West coast and live on west coast. Deer Tick is off the entire month of May. If both Deer Tick and Delta Spirit were added, then together with Dawes, the three frontmen from those bands could compose Middle Brother, one of our favorite bands of 2011. Feist has the weekend open as well. Little Dragon is coming back to the states to play Sasquatch. Two weeks before Hangout they are in Brazil. Explosion in the Sky are off in May. Shabazz Palaces stop their tour before Hangout. Same with Sharon Van Etten and The Joy Formidable and a myriad of others. It's just hard to say with the timing of the festival as most spring tours are over and summer tours have yet to be announced. Of course, the most logical add is Eddie Vedder, who's last date is in Orlando just days before. That may be unlikely, but he would be a nice fit on that second line in front of String Cheese.

Eddie Vedder definitely makes sense. Seeing as he's also doing Jazz fest and rumored for Bonnaroo. Definitely would check that out

The Head and the Heart have open dates for Hangout weekend and just added a May 22nd Atlanta show opening for DMB. I wouldn't be surprised if they get added to the lineup!

that makes the Head and the Heart pretty solid then. Edward Sharpe has one date, the Sunday I believe, off as well.

I'm willing to bet The Thermals will be added. I've posted on their fb several times before, as well as their other fans, and every single post gets a 'like' or a comment. every time. I made one post about if they had plans to play Hangout (since they've been working on a new album all winter and already mentioned plans of touring late spring, summer, etc.) and it received no comments at all, though every post before and after has like usual. They're fine with saying 'no, we won't be there. sorry!' when questioned about venues and dates in the past, so I'm guessing the odd no-response is a good sign -if you haven't listened to them, check them out or like them on facebook!

Think we might see St. Vincent added?
She is in Birmingham on the 18th, Atlanta on the 19th, has the 20th open, and then plays Nashville on the 21st. So she is in the area, has an open date for a Sunday show, plus she's doing the festival circuit (Coachella, Bonnaroo and Sasquatch).

I think dobbity's Edward Sharpe guess is pretty solid also...they open for DMB on the 18th and 19th.

It's already a great line up, but if they added some of these bands to the line up it would be the best line up ever. Cake Foo Fighters The Black Keys Sufjan Stevens Grace Potter and the Nocturnals Bon Iver Pixies Matt and Kim Grouplove The Kills

Everyone is overlooking one AMAZING BAND who is touring this summer: RADIOHEAD!! And so far, they have all of May WIDE OPEN! MAZZY STAR would be PHENOMINAL (not sure how many of you remember them...but rumors of a new disc and potential tour after like, 15+ years - and they are playing Coachella). I think we might see BAND OF SKULLS...they also have most of May open...BON IVER would hit the spot too... : )
