Our condo is around 4 miles from the festival. This is my first year so I had planned on buying shuttle passes. My friend went two years ago and said the shuttle didn't work so great for her and she missed several shows due to super long lines and a late shuttle or two. So my question is buy the pass or take a cab? Any shuttle advice greatly appreciated thanks so much!

A few years ago it was really bad, but from what I've heard they've improved greatly. Keep checking back, someone will chime in on this with more info.

If this was 2011, I would tell you to run away screaming from the shuttles. It. was. awful. We waited at least an hour for a shuttle each day. (This is also the year we waited TWO HOURS to get in the gate. I heard the Beats Antique set from the line at the east gate.  ) From that experience, I developed a "never again" mentality and scored a condo at Island Winds for 2012, 2013, and 2014. However, it is 2014 and I've heard nothing but good things about the shuttles from the two previous years. From what I heard, no one is waiting more than a few minutes for their shuttles to arrive. Everything is orderly and on time. Considering what I heard and how much cabs will be during the fest ($10-15 one way), you're better off financially by taking the shuttles. But, that is your decision. I will suggest that you not drive, especially if you will be drinking. Gulf Shores/Orange Beach cops see this fest as a way to build up revenue with DUIs. And you don't want to spend the fest in jail. |

I've heard nothing but great things about the shuttles since that first year. And sometimes the shuttles give out free VIP upgrades and all kinds of good stuff!

Bands also play on the shuttles from time to time.
And as Arcade mentioned, they do cool things for those on the shuttles.
This is part of why this festival is so awesome.
