I'd be surprised if there are jam acts on the pre-party lineup, since there are none at the main festival.
I've never done the pre-party (was never worth the $40 to me), but maybe there will be enough acts to make me want to go this year.

DUDE, you've gotta do the pre party! It's necessary.

We skipped the pre party's 2011 and 2012 and attended last year. It is a must. Would be cool for a boombox return or the disco biscuits, wishful thinking

It depends on how my work schedule plays out. I live only about an hour away from the fest but I'm trying to find a place to stay. In 2012 I had a place to stay and only took off the weekend, huge mistake, I was almost late for work and I was useless to the point they almost sent me home early. Last year, I didn't have anywhere to stay and I drove the hour long drive every night, but my family was out of town so I had the whole house to myself all weekend. I took the weekend + Monday off.
If I can find somewhere to stay, and the pre-party looks good, I'll take the Thursday + The Weekend + Monday off, maybe even take off the Tuesday after too.

If only they'd just do a variation of Cirque Du Soleil...maybe some comedy, on Thursdays. How cool would that be? Maybe a few big names at the end of the night.

I've always thought that they should just treat Thursday more as a fest day, but on a smaller scale as the other three days. Open up one of the beach stage (Hangout or Chevy), the Boom Boom Tent and the Letting Go and just do like 2 or 3 acts a stage. And instead of a big normal fest headliner on the beach stage, have an act that usually is a pre-headliner (like Queens of the Stone Age/Modest Mouse/of the like this year) headline the pre-party. That to me would be more appealing, but that's just me.

Music from say 4pm on is a must. Conspirator and my man, Benny Benassi were the main draws for me. I am even drawing a blank on the other band opposite Benny B. I want to say umphreys McGee.
Comedy would be better all weekend. Jay Pharoah would be a funny ass MC. Whatever happened to tony Clifton? Was that a huka thing?

I agree though, comedy would be great, but I don't know where in the world they would put it.

I remember last year, they brought in a few local groups. I'm guessing they'll do that again this year?

Last year's pre-party was amazing. We never left the Letting Go stage...wow, Drew Holcombe and Neighbors, Railroad Earth, topped off with Umphreys McGee and only a block from our Condo....geez louize! Again, Hangout will be hard pressed to repeat 2013. Except for the Stevie Wonder bust, it was an awesome weekend of music.

Stevie Wonder was my favorite show of the weekend, whereas I do not care for jam anymore (I used to love da jam.) But to each their own. They added Classixx and Jamestown Revival to Thursday. Very nice stuff. This is cool news.
