Ugh I wanna go to the Pre-party but my boyfriend thinks otherwise He's seen Girl Talk at Forecastle and ever since the whole Pretty Lights vs. Danny Brown deal he's anti-Danny. Wolfmother would be awesome! As would Bonobo. Hopefully I can keep bugging him until we can go haha There will be more additions to the preparty as well. Other things will be going on during those acts if you want to avoid them. I can't wait to hear the "new" Wolfmother.

$30 for all of that if you're already holding a 3-day pass is not by any means bad either! Does anyone know if the pre-party is 21 and up or not though? After a Big Gigantic concert in Cincinnati we bought $20 afterparty tickets and found out it was 21 and up when we got there and couldn't get a refund Don't wanna be stuck in that situation again.

I'm sure the preparty is all ages, but check the website for comfort. Just heard that Cage the Elephant was playing Hangout on a radio station while traveling through Nashville. We'll see.

Los Colognes are deep undercard but their live stuff is very jam oriented. Jerry riffs and a Petty feel. The studio CD is not quite the same. But I'm with you. I'm hoping for some more jam stuff too. I also agree that the bookng agents get the same bands for the same types of festivals. Outside of the Foo Fighters, Firefly has almost all of the same bands. We have their #2 and #3 headliners (as our #3 and #4 I might add), Pretty Lights, Portugal, etc etc

I agree Bob, there's so many recycled line ups through the festival market every year. Every jam fest is the same as the next. Wakarusa, Summer Camp etc. They alwaysss have umphreys, STS9 and all of those sorts. I mean I love them but don't need them at a festival like hangout. Hangout's roots are that of a jam festival. They basically made it a new festival this year, that's why I'm upset. Just compare the types of bands this year to the past lineups. As someone who has been to all but the first hangout, I don't think it's unfair to expected some continuity in regard to the type of acts booked at a festival which ensures I commit to tickets each year. Sucks that Huku isn't booking. If lineup isn't better next year, this will probably be my last. I do love the beach but this lineup really isn't that great no matter how I try to spin it and keep looking at the lineup. Beach is the big pull this year. Headliners are undeniably weak, where the hell is my classic rock headliner. If they book ABB I'll shutup on that. Upper middle card is fine. Normal middle card is non-existent. Like the drop off in popularity of the bands after Zedd/Gambino and especially after Fitz is CRAZY. Fitz and then Capital Cities and Needtobreathe, wtf. Lower-middle and lower card definitely have some great ones but also is lacking. Hate to be a debbie downer but it's true. This year did not live up to the past ones. Especially as an anniversary year. Did they not have enough money? If they did, who in the world are they paying so much for? I don't see any bands on there commanding much money except the headliners. Where is the typically solid middle card? Jam bands are my favorite because they make their money off of their live shows and thus put maximum effort to mix it up and put on a great show every time. They don't just play the same set every show like most bands. That's why I like them and I appreciate good musicianship and improv. Now, all I have to work with is STS9 and ALO. And MAYBE trombone shorty and moon taxi if you want to throw them in there. Compare that to past years and I don't think it's unfair for people with my music taste to be disappointed. And if we are talking about recycled festival lineups, you can now put Hangout in the category of Governors Ball, Sasquatch, Counterpoint, etc. The lineup is similar to those now. Whereas before I saw it above those. Sorry for venting. Obviously this is all my personal opinion. Just sad my fav festival has decided to go the commercial music route when it really had something special going. Hope Hangout shuts me up with solid additions. Flame away.

Wouldn't mind Joe Russo's Almost Dead added to the lineup. Been hearing the, on Sirius and the vibe is good.

Could not have said this any better myself. Don't get me wrong I feel your pain. Hangout is definitely heading in a new direction. I don't know if they are aiming for a new crowd or what but its very apparent. It's bittersweet though if you think about it. Definitely went in a more mainstream direction these last couple years like lolla/outsidelands/roo. Hangout is one of the most powerful festivals in the US, no one beats that location. They're literally at a point that they can get anyone they want. I don't know if its a reputation thing or the simple fact that they don't want to flood their beaches with hippies anymore haha. On a side note Lockn' and Phases of the Moon are some amazing new jam fests starting up. Just grabbed tix for phases! Rage on. Still hoping for a widespread, String cheese, or My morning jacket addition for hangout!

If any of the three bands you just named are additions to the Hangout lineup I will be completely satisfied. On a side note does anybody know if Pretty Lights will be performing with a live band?

The last two shows I went to he did. So I'm assuming so. From what I heard it's less "dubstep-y" than his earlier shows. It's excellent though. If you know the song "I can see it in your face", it's basically like that style the whole show.
